She doesn't dress preppy, she's not blonde, and she doesnt listen to the music i listen to!

And she shouldn't say you're "retarded" for following trends. Following trends is neither good nor bad. Liking older music is neither good nor bad. Those things have nothing to do with morality. Morality is all that really matters.

Instead of sinking to such a superficial level, just tell her it's hurtful to make fun of you for following trends. Tell her you wouldn't make fun of her for listening to old bands, and then make that the truth!!! Set a good example.
