Could someone please help me.

The trend at school is to wear your hair in a ponytail,

but a messy one.

Not so the ponytail itself is messy, but so the rest of your hair

up the top is messy.

Most girls also use bobby pins for this style.

All the guys think it's "hot" too.

My hair is very thick and layered.

Could someone please help me achieve this style?

Brush your hair in the opposite direction that you normally would. Put some pomade in your hair once it is dry. Take a little piece and comb it with a fine-toothed comb. Then take another little piece until you acheive the look you are going for. Also-it helps if you do not use conditioner. You can use it on the ends if you have long hair, but if you can get away with it, dont use it! This also helps the product stay in. You can also use hairspray.

Don't brush it when you put it up. Just flip your head up side down and put it up in a ponytail.

maybe you should get your hair thinned[even though thick is better and usually others WANT thick hair]. Achieve a messed-up texture to your hair by using a volumizer or texurizer such as Bedhead Cocky or Redken Body Full Weightlifter and blow dry product in hair using your fingers.

Tease your hair at the crown to achieve lift, smooth the top of the teased crown with your fingers and gather your fingers at the nape

Pin with 4 or 5 bobby pins or elastic tie.

put a couple of braids/twist in ur hair and let it sit then after a couple of hours later brush ur hair back in a ponytail but dont bruch the ends
