Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

Since my fiancee has been working out at the local gym and showering and what not she has become a little self concious about "body hair". She has mentioned that she figures the trend with the "model like" ladies is to shave everything totally clean. She wonders though does that mean that if she chooses to go "natural" does that make her somewhat counter-culture and "edgy"? I know this topic is silly, but for some reason she is concerned about this (note: she has always wanted to be unique and independent, sort of like an alternative punk rocker....) Any opinions on this? I'm at a total loss as to what to say to her (so far I've wisely said nothing!)

one good reason for no hair is it lessens the chance of insect infestation.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

Its not 'trendy'. Its personal choice.

I don't do it to be like everybody else, Or for anybody else. I do it for me.

If your fiancee wants to take care of this, I would suggest she make an appointment with an esthetician for a bikini wax. Advise her not to shave. Seriously. Waxing is the way to go.

I used to post a lot on a sex and sexuality forum, I think it was on student.com. And there were soooo many girls that actually didn't shave, I mean they trimmed and everything but they didn't shave or they didn't go completly bare. There are a lot that do shave, but I would think on that forum there was more that didn't.

It's personal preference really. I would tell her to still be herself and not worry about the other girls unless she's doing that to please herself. I don't think any girl should have to do that unless it's to satisy herself.

Edit- It is NOT lazy personal grooming. And it is actually becoming not popular. I don't do it, but I do shave the bikini line and trim so close that it's not even a "bush". I can't even believe someone would go so far as calling out other females and saying there lazy. I've tried the whole bare thing and just like others it's just not for them! I would keep those remarks to yourself or think of a better way to say them. It's offending.

Yes, it is trendy. Many people get the 'Brazillian' look...no hair in the front or the back. The natural or bushy look is WAY out. At most a 'landing strip' is all that is acceptable these days. Having a big old bush is not edgy or counterculture...it's lazy personal grooming.

It's "trendy" because women feel pressured into having no body hair, not so much for the look.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

It is a trend. If you look in any Playboy magazine or any magazine with girls wearing nearly nothing, you will notice that most shave all or leave a strip down the middle. I don't know how rare it is to find women who don't shave don't there because I am a female and don't go down on women, but its all about comfort. However, I will say from personal experience, when you first start shaving it off you will break out in red bumps, razor burn. And, once you get used to it and do it often, you never stop. Mostly because of the sensitivity after shaving it, but also because it becomes itchy to grow it back.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

Much to my surprise, the answer is YES! A little over 1 1'2 yrs ago, I divorced my husband, only to find out, that anybody, who is anyone, should, and would, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. HMMM...

I thought; so, I tried it. Now, I can't imagine being the other way.

As for your girlfriend, I wouldn't worry about going to the gym, Just as long as you like her decision, and you two are happy with it, who cares about everyone else???

P. S.

This might be a real good time for you to come across with concern, and maybe get your way in the scheme of things. If you'd like to try something new, Now is your chance.

Hey, maybe YOU should go ...

FIRST!

Good luck to ya'll

It is a trend right now to wax down there. You don't want to shave it off, though, that will just be scratchy and hard to maintain. I don't think that waxing it all off, though, makes you trendy. It's just one area, and most people don't see it anyway.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

TRENDY? LOL

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

I suppose it's "trendy." A lot of people just find pubic hair gross. Because of how much we've evolved- it really isn't a necessary addition to our body anymore. It used to be kind of a defense mechanism from germs getting in that area....but now that we are clean (most of us) and wear clothing....it's really very unnecessary. Plus I think it looks better....and who wants to deal with a bunch of hair when they are messing around with someone....ew.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

It is not trendy. it is your own choice and nobody sees anyway. Not to mention the guy when you have sex. The only thing is though is that the hair takes yonks to grow back. It's like starting all over again.

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

not much of 'trendiness' i guess.she isnt goin naked!noone will know whether she did it or not.but on the hygeine point of view,do it unless it really is needed

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

Most women in the modern western world shave "down there" ...

Is it trendy for women to shave "down there"?

Its personal choice of what she wants. If she does decide to go hairless, tell her not to shave, but to wax.Shaving down there causes razor burn, bumps, ingrown hair, and scars.Don't do it!
