Nope. Sounds crazy. As far as I know, we don't do anything like that in America... Or at least in California...

Oh loosen up, food fights are always fun! No we don't have a trend of doing that here in the US! It would be more likely done at a wedding as the couple cut the cake they shove it in the other's face!

It used to be a trend at WEDDINGS. Some still do it, but most brides get so beautiful for their wedding day, they warn the groom, "No Way!!" Not at birthday parties (we call them parties, not celebrations.) Great question! Give that man a star! :)

Yeah, we did that to my friend at her party... we all just took a small bit off the cake and then stood around her. Unfortunately, she caught on and started running. I guess it is a bit annoying to have sugary frosting or icing on your face... but it's just good fun, isn't it?
I don't know if other people do it.... oh well.

I live in Spain and I've never seen this done. And hopefully it won't catch on!

ive seen bday cake all over for a Baby, because they get to play with the cake for the first time, but not on adults... kinda weird.

Never heard of that before as a tradition! Once I had a birthday party where we made cakes and naturally ended up throwing whipped cream at each other...but it's definitely not a tradition over here in Europe (at least not Western Europe) as far as I know. Are you sure that this was not just a one-off joke? Is it truly a custom over in India?... well remind me never to have a birthday over there! I'd prefer to spend my birthday without taking several showers lol.

No. If someone did that to me, I would smack them.
