Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

To fit in, we have to have the LATEST styles, the $100 shoes, our hair done a certain way. That is just silly. conforming to a uniform of 'latest trends and expensive shoes' is no fun (for me at least). I'm sure there are other people like me who feel this way, but is afriad to be theirselves or they will be persecuted by their peers.

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

Just stop going with the flow, be yourself.

If someone wants to judge you by the clothes you wear or your hairstyle, is their opinion worth anything?

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

people are scared of what they don't know. people who are the same as each other pose no threat. stupid, just human nature, unknown makes people uncomfortable. also commercial industry has spent years and unimaginable resource trying to create this. not always like that thou, many who are original, but no what u mean. (guess ur between 12 and 17) people feel insecure at that ageand is quite common. if not -oh well!

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

I don't know why, but I wish you'd go away!!

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

Do we?

Marilyn Manson works hard at being diffrent but he is every popular.

Looks like being diffrent can work too.

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

i am not like that i have never been, even during school i did my own thing when and how i wanted i was never a sheep. I didn't to do bad when it came to friends.

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

Indeed you are right! But the answer about marilyn manson is right as well.

I think it all boils down to confidence really. For, those who are not comfortable with themselves cannot be confident in their style, and so resort to trying to be a clone of others because they are afraid of being ridiculed otherwise.

Those who are comfortable with themselves and confident about their own individuality can outwardly show who THEY are not how they are just like everyone else.. They realise that those who might ridicule them are just the people like the above i.e. afraid of being different, of being who they are - and therefore can ignore the comments made by those who are like that (a.k.a idiots!). However it is that very confidence that "pulls off" their individuality and makes other people accept who they are. That is when others respect them for having their individual style (i.e. marilyn manson)..

Why do we have to be like other people to be popular??

I'm only guessing here, but I would say you are a teenager, right? Damm I'm glad I'm not a teenager anymore. Kids can be so mean and cruel to each other and so unaccepting! GOOD GOD I hate that mindset! I've never been a conformist. The only trends I follow are the ones I like. I don't care what anybody else thinks. And I CERTAINLY don't spend that kind of money on my clothes.

I have tons of clothes, nice clothes, too. But I buy them according to what I like. I shop in all the "best" places, Target, WalMart, on-line stores, and I've even been know to go to the thrift store. And I'm certainly not going to pay good money to wear some company name splashed across my chest-----this is free advertising for that company, and they should be paying me! I'm told all the time how nice I look. Nobody has a blessed clue how little I spent, and nobody really cares.

There is NOTHING that says we are all suppose to be alike. We are all suppose to be individual, that's why God made us this way. I can tell you that as you mature, this will change. It will no longer matter what you wear, how you do your hair, or how much money you spend on your wardrobe, just as long as you look nice and clean and present a professional front.

I know it sounds strange for a Non-conformist to say, but this is the main reason I favor school uniforms. All of "that happy nonsense" would cease to be important.
