The "emo" movement?

So recently iv notice a new clique in my school, the emotionals or "emo" we like to call them. You may reconize female emos by there pitch black to purple hair, their excessive use of dark colored clothing and peircing not to mention heavy mackup. You may reconize male emos by their gay tigh bell bottom jeans, and their emo hair which is usualy pitch black and covers one eye, and of course you cant be emo without a shiny studed belt!. They tend to inflict pain on themselve by cutting their wrist or other body parts. If you see an emo kid remember don't tease or hurt them becuase they are already dead inside.

Ok my question is why do people go emo?its retarded... is it for attention?or is it a new fashion trend?or do they feel the need to be different?

The "emo" movement?

A poseur or poser is a person who adopts the dress, speech, and/or mannerisms of a particular group or subculture, generally for attaining acceptability within the group. A poseur may not share or understand underpinnings of the group he or she is trying to identify with. Some subcultures may view what they regard as poseurs with varying degrees of mistrust and scorn.

With the "emo" fashion and music quickly becoming more poular, more and more people are flocking to the style. Some of these will cut themselves in various places because they associate self-harm with being emo. Others will talk about the popular emo bands while not really liking them.

In a cover for themselves, these posers will openly refer to actual emos as posers, wannabes, and cutters. Said posers talk about emo sterotypes and make emo jokes.

It can be hard to spot an emo poser/wannabe if you are not in this particular subculture. Though the true emos can usually spot the offender quickly.

These poor kids. Doesn't anyone love them? God help them!

The "emo" movement?

they're trying to be different but really there just conforming to a different type of group. it is kinda stupit.

The "emo" movement?

i think its starting to die now a little thank god. i noticed there aint many emos at my college (which is full of different steorotypes) plus some of my emo friends have now said they cant stand the stuff. but yeah it is a trend.

The "emo" movement?

emo dirives from attention only. When the experience of emo diminises. The emo falls off and they have to find another leaning

post to hold their charater. It all direives from the lack of insurity.

But time heals all diminishing values.

The "emo" movement?

It's a trend. You gotta be cool nowadays dontcha know, and nothing says cool like cutting yourself apparently. I miss the old days when goths were goths and not stupid punks pretending to be badass. If you were a goth, you looked sad a lot, you wrote morose poetry, you usually wore black, and you might cut yourself but you were generally not stupid enough to show them to the world, because that would cause unwanted attention. Ahhhh, the good old days. I hope emo dies and never comes back.
