they tend to be depressed and hav straight black hair with bangs covering half of their face. they usually wear black but cud wear vibrant colors too. they hav a tendency to cut themselves becoz its fun(to me) and they're depressed.

these days it seems emo is overdone...you see these spooiled rich kids that like to hate their life, even though they have a brand new SUV and can shop at hot topic. emo is short for emotional....so as far as music goes, sugarcult, jimmy eat world, ect...thats all emo....it makes me mad how people confuse punk with emo, they are very diff...the style for emo, is usually, tight pants, all stars, shirts with random safety pins all over black eyeliner and black hair in their face....like i said its overdone and i cant stand seeing thse high school kids who think their life sucks!!!!!

KK, I am a type of emo, but my type is also called scene, we all don't dress the same, what about preppy, and abercrombie and ***** and all that repetitive stuff, now emo yes they are the depressed ones looking for attention, like the cutting, no that is retarded, the music is fantastic, like senses fail look it up. But yea we are tired of ppl looking at scene ppl and saying that they are emo, so wow we are depressed. no we just wanted our own style. But tis ok if you dont like it, we dont mind. And scene ppl like me, there are not many, but we love being friends with everyone, but many dont accept us because of the music, and hair in the face but its okay. :)

buttttt the standard idea of "emo" is lots of tight-fitting band t-shirts, tight-skater pants. the shoes are often the canvas vans or all-stars. hair- straight w/ choppy layers ("asian" hair). for guys the hair is on the longer side with a bang sweeped over one eye, also there is a contrast in the hair-cut between spikey%26amp;short and straight%26amp;long.

also many jokes will be cruelly made about "emo" kids slitting their wrists and just generally being dark and scarily depressed.

they may claim that fallout boy, taking back sunday or scary kids scaring kids are "emo" bands. BUT THEY AREN'T!

emo used to just be a genre. people call me emo. usually, they dress in tight jeans, and are super skinny. they wear lots of ribbons, headbands, clippies, jewelry, makeup, etc. they also usually have about the same hairstyle. look it up on google or yahoo images. people say they are depressed all of the time and cut themselves... thats not true! for some like me... i dress like one and i absolutely love the type of music. they also wear black/rainbow-ish colors. guys dress in tight jeans and they have a certain type of glasses. black rimmed... square! some carry messenger bags too. emo used to just be a type of music and now its a category for people. i just think a cutter is a cutter and they are depressed all of the time. everything people say is usually fake. its a freakin genre of music!!!
